You Need Dis

I know, I know… You’re probably thinking, “Geez Emily, another hat?” Yes, dear reader, I bought yet another hat to add to my ever-growing collection of black, gray, pom-pomed, and pom-free. My closet is basically the less soggy version of Ariel’s grotto – I’ve got sunglasses and earrings aplenty, I’ve got necklaces and chambrays galore. You want shoes? I’ve got more than I should probably publicly admit. If I have one real skill in this world, it’s the ability to justify just about anything and it’s a talent that I happily share with the world. Ask anyone who’s ever been shopping with me – I am the Great Enabler. And why not? So often the only things we buy for ourselves are the necessities and not the joys. Yes, you need pants for work, but what about a fun and cozy sweatshirt for when you’re not at work? Sure, sensible shoes are the foundation of any wardrobe, but what if instead of buying a pair of black flats and nude pumps you used that Payless BOGO to buy a staple AND something that actually brought you joy? Life is too short. Buy the unnecessary two-tone hat you found on clearance and the round sunglasses you put on as a joke but than actually really dug because in the immortal words of one, Sheryl Crow:

If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad.
