Shine On, Shine Off

With Valentine’s Day come and gone, we’ve officially reached the end of the holiday glam season. No more smooching under mistletoe, counting down to midnight, or heart shaped candies for another year. But does that mean we stash our favorite party gear away in the mothballs? Hell no! We made resolutions to shine bright in everything we do, and by golly, we’re going to do it! So how exactly does one go about injecting a little sparkle into the everyday life? It’s easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy (don’t worry, I’m done with that nonsense):

  1. Keep it simple – Sure, you may have rolled up to the holiday party dressed like the aftermath of an explosion at the bedazzler factory, but believe me when I say that you’ve got to dial that ish back in the cold light of day. Choose one piece and let it be your statement.
  2. Hello monochrome! – The easiest way to wear shine during the wee hours of the not night is to keep it all in the family (the same color family, that is). Pair your silvers with whites and grays, golds with taupes and beiges, and blacks with, well, black. It keeps the look streamlined and simple (see step one) and turns the sparkle into an intriguing layer of texture.
  3. Demure darling – Listen, miniskirts and bodycon dresses are great and everything, but skin + shine + random Tuesday afternoon = a look that’s just a bit too much. Instead, opt for a look that allows for subtlety- a sparkly cami under a blazer, a sweater tucked into a shiny skirt, etc.

And the fourth sure-fire tip to pull this off? Confidence. Walk with purpose and no one ever questions the path, purpose, or destination.

Skirt: LOFT

Sweater: Target (similar)

Heels: Kohl’s (similar)
