I Get By With A Little Help

Guys, if there is one thing I’ve learned in my time on this planet it’s that life moves pretty fast and change can happen in an instant. One minute you’re running along with your friends, free as a bird and loving life and the next, you suddenly find yourself at the bottom of a hole, clawing desperately up a steep incline to freedom, but sliding helplessly back down into the muck and the grime (shut up, I didn’t just think about Homeward Bound and cry for 5 minutes, you did). So what’s a girl to do when the world spins so fast it gives her whiplash and her molehill of problems becomes a seemingly insurmountable mountain right before her very eyes? Distill the problem down to its most basic parts and then tackle them one piece at a time. It’s easy to get lost and confused when life is threatening to pull you in 10 separate directions, but the key is to remember to keep it simple and focused. Believe me, absentminded flailing is not an effective battle strategy (unless the plan was to make your arms tired, in which case flail away). Prioritize your grievances into: things you can deal with right now, things you can deal with later, and things that are completely out of your control, and then create a strategy for dealing with each category. Stuck on solutions? Try brainstorming with a few likeminded individuals (there are more out there than you think, trust me). Think of life like a three legged race- we all need to work together to move forward.

Listen, sometimes you really just have to lean into your “Wild West Stevie Nicks as Rosie the Riveter” vibe, okay?
