No Spend December

Get ready y’all, because I am about to drop a serious bombshell.  The holidays can get really, really, stupidly, expensive. (I’ll give you a moment to recover).

No but seriously, I love this season and all of its goodwill, joy, and constant eating, but things can start to add up quickly.  If only I had less loved ones, but alas I have spent years cultivating these relationships, and I refuse to lose them over a bad gift.  Not to mention that I really enjoy finding the perfect present for everyone (it is one of the many things Leslie Knope and I have in common).

With all of this in mind, I have decided that in the spirit of the holiday, I will only be spending my hard earned money on others rather than myself. And I shall call this effort No Spend December.   It will be difficult, as buying things for myself is a favorite pastime, but I think I can hack it for 30 days.  Plus, I just might get lucky and receive a few presents of my own (hint hint…). And most importantly, I am hoping it will remind me to appreciate the things I have rather than constantly be looking for the new and different just for new and different’s sake.

So bring it on No Spend December, let’s do this!
