The holidays are right around the corner and the spirit of thankfulness and giving are in the air. Coming up with the perfect gift for those special people in your life can be challenging and overwhelming. That’s where we come in! We here at FBC are basically professional shoppers at this point. We budget, we plan, we make gift guides. So for those of you who are out there grasping at straws, don’t worry! We’ve got a bushel of ideas and we’re more than happy to share.
Your common interests made you besties but the 40 hours you spend together made her your work wife. Remind her that she’s the Ann Perkins to your Leslie Knope with a Parks and Rec inspired mug. A calendar of adorable hedgehogs will help her countdown to her next vacay and a cozy throw will help her ward off your office’s overzealous AC until then. Hilarious memos are serious business when you write them with a polka dot pen and this encouraging paperweight will reminder that not only has she got this, but she is organized AF. Looking for other ways to pimp that cubicle? No problem! Swap out her basic, IT department issue mousepad for something much chicer. Oh and if this cute, monogrammed business card holder doesn’t make her look like a boss, then these nameplates definitely will.
Here’s a little pro tip from me to you: Don’t get your artsy friend (or “creative weirdo” as some of us prefer to be called) a box of RoseArt crayons. They’re like the tea light candles of the art world: waxy, useless, and short-lived. Instead, consider picking up a nice sketchbook, a set of Prismacolor colored pencils, and a cute baggy to put them in. They’ll never miss a deadline or a meeting with a sweet watch from the first name in color, Pantone. A big ol’ oversized scarf (in black like their artsy fartsy little soul, naturally) will keep them cozy in those freezing art studios and some luxurious hand lotion in cute little paint tubes will help offset the damage from all of that time they spend cleaning paintbrushes. A poster from the GFDA guys will help keep them inspired while this phone case (designed by a fellow artist through society6) will remind them to keep hustling. Oh, and it’s no secret that imaginative types are often fueled by creativity and caffeine and this Andy Warhol mug is the perfect blend of the two if I do say so myself (and I do). Finally, there isn’t an artist out that doesn’t occasionally struggle with self-confidence so be sure to remind them, “Your Inner Critic is a Big Jerk“.
Everyone loves a good party, but no one loves a good party more than your Natural Born Hostess friend. You name it, they host it: BBQs, dinner parties, cocktail parties, Large Sports Gathering parties, Various Food Item Exchange parties, and so forth and so on. These are the kinds of folks who will enjoy interesting glasswear (like these cool iridescent ones or these ones with geodes in the bottom) and gorgeous coasters that take drinks with friends to a whole new level. Is that a decanter that says “Truth Serum” on it? Sign. Them. Up. They’ll relish the opportunity to add a new ice bucket or cocktail shaker to their already extensive barwear collection. Why? Because it’ll give them a chance to test out new drink recipes from their new literary themed cocktail books (Tequila Mockingbird and Gone with the Gin? SLAY). And then once everyone is all liquored up, it’s time to bust out everyone’s favorite party game, Cards Against Humanity (because every Natural Born Hostess knows it’s how you turn acquaintances into friends and friends into besties).
