Perhaps it is because I am in my first big girl job (like with a dress code, a 401K and a bunch of other things I don’t quite understand but tacitly accept), but recently I have found I like to look a bit more polished when it comes to putting together both my 9 to 5 and my off-hours ensembles. This sartorial evolution has lead to me really appreciating pieces that can take me from “the board room to the bar” (please feel free to fill in your preferred overused “work to play” phrase here).
One item I am finding myself reaching for a lot is a blazer. Especially now that the weather has cooled, a blazer is a great way to add a bit of structure to finish off your ensemble. It perfectly straddles the line between business casual and happy hour chic, two looks that incorporate a lot of my favorite things: Casual, Happy Hour, Chic… (business, not so much. Now bizness I can get down with!)
And as versatile as a navy or black blazer can be, I say why not branch out a bit? This blush blazer for example is the perfect shade for my wardrobe, and the longer cut means it can hold its own with anything from an a-line dress to skinny jeans without breaking a sweat. So when it comes to blazers, I say put them to work anytime!
