To assist with this task, I have gathered a few of my favorite new for Fall trends to share with you all! Take ‘em or leave ‘em, you’ll be seeing a lot of these items as the days shorten, the leaves fall, and the flannel abounds.
I will be honest and say this trend took a bit of getting used to, but now that I am onboard I officially cannot get enough of them. The flared sleeve adds a bit of extra zing to any otherwise basic look, and I love that they somehow look structured and whimsical all at the same time. You’ve seen me in this insanely cute top from J. Crew, and would be lying if I said I didn’t have my eyes on these dresses here and here!
How to Wear: If you are rocking a bell sleeved top, I say keep the bottoms simple and streamline, like a pair of skinny jeans and booties. If you’re going full bell sleeved dress, I love the look with over the knee boots and a great wool hat. It’s one of those perfect outfits that is both easy to throw together and actually looks effortless and cool.
If you haven’t seen these around, you just haven’t been looking close enough. This trend is so cute and fun, I am actually regretting not keeping my Pink Ladies jacket from when I played Frenchie many, many moons ago (and before you ask, all photo documentation has been destroyed). It’s the perfect topper to any easy ensemble, and with all the new colors, fabrics and patterns these jackets come in, they really allow your personality and style to shine.
How to Wear: These babies are really perfect for any ensemble; throw it on over a shirtdress for an super cute layer, or with a pair of flared jeans, a silky cami and strappy heels for a night on the town. The possibilities are endless.
This trend shocked me a bit, as I am a do or die leather and suede fan the moment the temperature cools. That being said, I think getting to play around with textures is one of the best parts of the layering game, and one more option is never a bad thing. I actually love the idea of a neutral colored velvet blazer or maybe even a slinky velvet slip dress. And the best part? Velvet will actually keep you warm! (who ever said fashion wasn’t practical?)
How to Wear: A velvet blazer with a silk blouse and wide legged wool trousers is a perfect cooler weather work look. And I love the idea of a velvet a line skirt with a chambray top, booties and a statement necklace. But keep in mind, velvet is one of those fabrics where a little goes a long way, so don’t go too crazy or you may end up looking less divine and more drapery.
Guys, the day we have all feared is here: the 90s are back with a vengeance. And while there is only one other fashion comeback that I would loathe more (that would be the 80s), there are a few aspects of that decade that are kind of all that and a bag of chips (like, totally). One of those is chokers. While I will never accept those weird plastic “tattoo” chockers of our youth, I love this new generation of subtle and stylish necklaces that really are the perfect finish to any look.
How to Wear: I adore the look of a choker with an oversized v-neck sweater and jeans, but chokers also play well with others and are a perfect layering piece with a lariat or y necklace over your favorite little black dress.
