It’s the time of year where the temperature is dropping (you know, except for those random 90 degree October days…) and the days are progressively getting shorter. Soon it will be dark when we wake up for work and pitch black again when we leave work at the end of the day, which means that mornings and I will finally function in the exact same way at 6am: terribly. I am not now and no doubt never will be a morning person, so I need simple looks that are easy to pull together with the least amount of required brain cell function. Enter my new fave casual Friday outfit: Mixing three patterns may sound complicated, but with the right pieces you can pretty much do it in your sleep (which is my preferred method of doing most things). The key is to create a simple, neutral color palette. For example, this navy and white striped tee plays nicely with the navy in this steal of a blanket scarf from Target, and thanks to its earthy tones, leopard is basically the most versatile print on the planet (Pro Tip: The next time your outfit calls for a neutral shoe or accessory, try swapping it out for something in a leopard print for a pop of personality (but also limit yourself to one animal print at a time- you’re at Starbucks, not on safari)). See? Pattern mixing so easy a zombie (i.e. me before 8…9…okay, 10am) can do it!
