As a rule, I tend to avoid maxi skirts. It’s not that I don’t love them, I really do, it’s more that every time I try one on I tend to look less like a long, lean confidence machine and more like a witch in the process of melting (Oh what a world, what a world…).
Even when I find a maxi skirt that does fit, I am not a huge fan of the super clingy cotton ones that show every little nook and cranny, or the more voluminous ones that basically make me look like I go straight from head to skirt (my torso may be small, but it is there!). As a result, I had sadly resigned myself to skirts of the midi and mini variety, destined to walk this world with my lower legs and ankles un-covered (…unless I am wearing pants…or boots…you know what I mean).
Then along came this beauty, with it’s silky look, gorgeously saturated color and just enough volume to fall between TMI and NUB (No Upper Body). And the best part? It fit like a dream. I styled it with wedges here but it totally works with my favorite sandals and flats, so I can dress it up and down to my heart’s content.
So this petite girl’s wishes were finally granted, and now any melting I do will be because it’s hot as balls here in St. Louis, and not because a shoe thief threw water on me (#rude).
