Maxi-mum Look, Minimum Effort

Guys, I have a minor confession to make: maxis and I have never been friends. It doesn’t matter if they’re slouchy skirts or flowing dresses, to me these beloved closet staples are just floor length trip hazards. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of a maxi is very appealing to me (all of the no-my-underwear-is-not-showing piece of mind of wearing pants with all of the comfort of not wearing pants? Sign me up. ), but my efforts in the maxi department thus far have been maximally disappointing. They’re either too long, too short, or oddly constricting (you know, like a chinese finger trap for your legs- the more you struggle, the more miserable you are). I generally find them to be inconvenient and an utter nusiance… Until now. Banana Republic must’ve read my diary because this dress is everything I’ve ever wanted in a maxi: loose and flow-y but cinched in exactly the right place (below the boobs, above the food baby), easy and casual but dresses up faster than you can say statement necklace, short enough for flats but long enough for heels, and two slits that mean I can walk without lifting my skirt like a little princess (and did I mention it has pockets? Because this mofo has POCKETS). So, I guess it’s time to finally count me on Team Maxi because I finally get it.
