I remember a day, not too long ago, when the denim on denim look (or, as it was affectionately known in my circles, the “Canadian Tuxedo”) was looked upon with borderline disdain. I am not sure why we so vehemently mocked that certain ensemble, but mock it we did, with reckless abandon.
Well, the runways have turned, as it were, and now you cannot open a magazine (or, let’s be honest, go on a website, who reads magazines anymore?) without seeing some gorgeous star or model rocking the denim on denim trend. And as a women, whose prerogative it is to change her mind (often multiple times in the same hour….), I am 100% on board with this look. There’s just something so effortless about it, it’s easy and way cute. Especially when you add some great heels and a pair of rockin’ tassel earrings (if I do say so myself…).
If young Jeanne sitting at the mall could see me now, she’d probably point and laugh mercilessly with her friends. But I would point and laugh right back, because odds are she’s wearing low rise jeans and layered spaghetti strap tank tops, which, so gross, amiright?!
