A few years ago, I saw something on tumblr that stopped me dead in my tracks. Someone had put together outfits inspired by Disney characters with clothing that could have come from anyone’s closet. That genius person was Leslie Kay, and that magical blog was Disneybound. Blame it on all the band tees (*cough* Lord of the Rings tees *cough*) but it had never really occurred to me until that moment that you could actually broadcast your love of something without obviously plastering it all over your person. Now every show I watch has the potential for some closet cosplay. For example, I was finally catching up on Doctor Who a few months ago on Netflix (remember the good old days when that was still a thing? Et tu, Netflix?) when Clara Oswald wore an eye print blouse that gave me serious outfit envy (which given my love of absurd whimsy should surprise absolutely no one). I was pretty sure I’d never lay eyes on the actual blouse (do you see what I did there? wink, wink, nudge, nudge), but I did spot these Betsy Johnson earrings (seriously, so many eye puns, so little time) and I figured that was kind of the same thing.
After that, the rest of the outfit came together pretty easily. Well, except for the orange shirt- I had to traverse all over time and space for that. Because I’m a carer.
