Hey guys, since I bought over half of this outfit in the past month (which means it’s still available in stores), I thought I would mix it up a little and do some quick reviews for you. Spoiler Alert, obviously I kept all of these items, but I really love them and I want to share why.
J Crew Factory Pleated Mini Skirt: I was hesitant to pull the trigger on this skirt, because it’s not the silhouette I normally go for, but I’m so glad I did. It’s fully lined (which means it doesn’t stick to my tights!), has roomy pockets, and has a forgiving elastic waist. Plus, it’s available in a ton of colors and patterns that seem to rotate seasonally. Cons? It’s dry clean only (blech), it’s a hair shorter than I prefer for work skirts, and this particular color has a tendency to wrinkle (however, my coworker has a different color that doesn’t wrinkle at all, so ymmv). If you waver between sizes, size down. I bought one size down from my normal J Crew Factory skirt size and was glad I did so.
Who What Wear for Target Bateau Sweater: I know I’m way behind on this whole Who What Wear for Target thing, but oh man do I love this sweater. The knit is heavy and feels luxurious, and the striping is exactly what I was looking for. I have a couple of cons with mine (it’s so heavy that it tries to slip off my shoulder, it seemed to lose shape as the day went on), but they could be attributed to me buying the only size left in the store (not necessarily the one I normally would have chosen), and it fitting a little more oversized that it was intended for.
Sam Edelman Penny Boots: Are these a heck of a lot more than I normally spend on boots? YUP. Do I give a rat’s tushie? NOPE. I absolutely feel $150 worth of love for these boots. I love how the leather feels, I love how they feel on my feet, and I love that the chances of them developing a hole in them mid-winter within a year of purchase is pretty darned low (shame on you, favorite Target riding boots). Cons? Zero. I’m usually between a 8.5 and a 9, and these fit me best in a 9. These are also wide calf, because jeans. I would highly recommend checking these out if you’re in the market for leather riding boots.
