This past weekend, T. and I took a little getaway to New York City. I know that NYC in the dead of winter is not exactly a popular destination, but even trekking through post-Snowzilla ice and sludge couldn’t stop this girl from making the most of the trip (though I did have some concerns for my boots…).
Despite its constant bustling streets and borderline incomprehensible subway, New York is one of the best places for me to run away to when I find myself feeling lost or overwhelmed. The chaos and drive of the city helps center me, it brings things back into focus in a way few other places can. It is almost as if I need the constant sound and motion swirling around me to quiet the millions of thoughts swimming through my head and hear that small voice saying “you know what you want, now go after it”.
So though I am now back to reality, I have not forgotten that little voice; my souvenirs from this trip are a clear path, some new ideas, and hopefully just enough chutzpah to make it all happen. So until next time New York, and thanks for always having a place for this little girl in the big bad city.
