So at this point we are almost a full week into 2016 and you think I would be tired of talking about it…and I mostly am. But I have one more little log I want to add to the fire that the start of a new year puts in my belly.
2015 was a bit of a crazy year for me. Bought my first house (also known as my first purchase valued over $100. Ya girl shops sales like whoa.), left a decade long career behind to try something new, and oh, started this lovely little blog you’re reading right now. It’s easy to look back and think all these events just happened, but that’s not really true. Every one of those experiences happened because I wanted them to and worked my ass off to make a dream a reality.
It’s very tempting to look down the barrel of a new year and think “Man, I am going to do so much cool and inspiring stuff that when I look back 365 days from now, I will be chock full of huge successes and amazing stories and be a whole new better person!”. The harder thing to do is keep that promise to yourself when you’re 4 or 5 months into said new year and everything feels pretty much the same. My advice? Read my shirt: Make It Happen!
Don’t just sit back and let the year pass you by. If there’s a goal you have, set a plan. If there’s a change you want to make, start down the path. Be smart, be realistic, and make sure that when you look back this time next year, you truly will be chock full of huge successes and amazing stories. The best part about a new year is that its a clean slate, so fill your slate with big ambitions and even bigger desires (and maybe a silly doodle or two, not everything has to be so serious) and let’s make this the year that they happen!
