The Year That Jess Found Her Groove

Welcome back, friends! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and I hope you’re all surviving the ridiculous weather that’s been happening all over the country. My husband and I are currently up north, taking a few days of R&R on the shore of Lake Superior. Once we get back later today, we head right back out for a week in New York visiting M’s family, and then we hit the ground running in 2016.

2015 was, for me, a year of extreme life changes. Big moves, big job changes, big new blog, the works. It’s been a dream come true in so many ways, but along with that new state and new job, I had to say hello to a smaller closet and goodbye to a lot of old favorites.

With all that change it was kind of nice to be forced into distilling my closet and my look down to the basics. I took what I knew I loved, even back in the first early weeks of the blog….

…and built my closet around that basic look. Mostly neutrals, with skinny pants, flowing shirts, and basic patterns. It makes my outfit choices somewhat predictable, but when everything else is in a state of transition and flux…. a little predictability is kind of nice.

Add a pop of burgundy and a hefty dose of knit scarves, and that’s where you’ll find me today. Cozy, cute, and completely ready for the new year.

I hope that 2016 bring a bigger closet, a little bit more calm, and a lot more room to chances to take risks and branch out style-wise.

What are you hoping to find in 2016?
