This week, the ladies of FBC decided to tackle an issue that is near and dear to many a woman’s heart; how to take a dress from day to night. We all know how difficult in can be to put an outfit together for those days when you are going full speed from morning to evening, so we decided to take on the challenge of making a few of our favorite dresses work for us from a day of shopping to a delicious dinner in the evening (and yes, we really did spend a Sunday doing that; just like true artists, we suffer for our craft).
A little black dress is the perfect blank slate for a day to night look. Emily found the ideal one here, in that it is super comfy for a day of walking around, but also a perfect material and cut for dressing up. For day, Emily paired her dress with simple black braided flats and a bag that makes it perfectly clear how she feels about you bringin’ any drama (she is uninterested).
And for night, she bumped up her look with wedges and a wide belt to add a bit of definition, as well as the best gosh darn statement necklace any of us have ever seen (#accessoryenvy, it’s a thing people).
Stripes are a girls best friend, in that they are so easy to dress up or down. Jess is rocking a super fun black and white number that made her day to night transition a breeze. For day, Jess simply added a pendant necklace and seriously cute sun hat for an effortlessly fun look
And for night, Jess gave the dress a more structured vibe by tying on a gorgeous pink shirt and adding some great black earrings and booties (neither of which Jeanne stole for herself, so if they are missing, DO NOT look in Jeanne’s closet because they are not there).
Maxi dresses are not the easiest to take from day to night, but Jeanne was up to the difficult task. For day, Jeanne let the dress speak for itself with gold accessories and an easy, chic updo (Just don’t ask her how she got her hair to do that…).
And for night, she added some fun wedges to dress it up, and accentuated the stunning colors of the dress with an aqua necklace and a pop of fuchsia lip (a little color in the evening never hurt nobody).
So there you go, three examples of how to take your look from comfy cool in the day to sleek and chic at night. What are your super secret tricks from making your look work for you from AM to PM?
