Date Expectations

I don’t care who you are, no one can deny that getting ready for a date causes the tiniest little flutter of happiness in your stomach. First date or one hundredth date, it doesn’t matter, there is something so fun about getting gussied up and knowing you’re getting ready to have a good time with someone you like. (Or have a horrible time, but there are few things more entertaining than a crappy date story!)

I may be married, but even I am not immune to the joy of dressing for date night. It gives me the opportunity to get fancy and try a new look that I may otherwise deem too much for “everyday”. Plus, I like the challenge of trying to get someone who sees me in every outfit I own to be surprised by what I have put together (and a “wow” of approval ain’t too bad either).

When choosing a date night look, I find I tend towards pieces that are flattering and flirty.  That’s why I love this trapeze dress I just picked up from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (From one friend to another, I would check it out. Some seriously great fall pieces at bank account friendly prices, through Aug. 3rd). I love the color, and it’s comfy yet easy to dress up with a statement necklace and heels.  Plus it hits my most important date look requirement: I can eat a giant dinner plus dessert (because obviously dessert), and no one would be the wiser. If that’s not an essential factor for a night on the town ensemble, I don’t know what is.
